Maybe if I'd only read the first volume I would be less quick to say so, but the second volume really does take the story in an interesting direction. I like shoujo but am always wary of the cliches and the excessive focus on sillyness and boys (I'm definitely too old to be their target audience anyways). :P And since I'm in a country with virtually no manga available I am careful about buying new series (I could read online but I prefer real books...
